Hi, I’m Logan Wooden…

I founded Rockford Trumpet Studio to provide an uncompromised education for anyone who wants to play the trumpet. I look forward to building a positive and supportive community for everyone, regardless of who they are and where they come from.

About Logan

A bit of backstory

Logan started playing the trumpet at ten years old but didn’t take it seriously until he was 13. After hours of scrolling on the internet, he pulled up a video similar to the one(s) below…

After listening to a recording of Goedicke’s Concert Etude, he became obsessed with the instrument. The days and months following were full of countless hours of monotonous practice. This work started to pay off as Logan transitioned into high school. He won a spot in the top ensemble and proceeded to win his first audition to take 1st chair. This win went to his head, so it felt like the world was falling apart when he ultimately failed his freshman ILMEA audition. After the sadness had passed, determination set in. Logan went home, printed out next year’s audition music, and practiced it every day without fail. The following year he won the principal trumpet chair with the district orchestra and was the first sophomore to win a spot in the ILMEA All-State orchestra. The group that opened the all-state conference that year happened to be the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra. The following spring, Logan won a spot in the CYSO symphony orchestra. Experiencing music at this level was life-changing. The next few years were spent preparing for college auditions, taking lessons with some of the best trumpet players in the world, and meeting some people who would become life-long friends.

As the world went into lockdown in the spring of 2020, any plans of pursuing music full time were put on pause. Since graduating high school, he has played with ensembles including the Fox Valley Symphony, Illinois Brass Band, and RWE brass quintet. During a lesson with Peter Bond (former trumpet with the Metropolitan Opera and Rockford native), he mentioned that Rockford didn’t have a place for trumpet players to gather, learn, and play together. In an effort the change that, Rockford Trumpet Studio was founded.

What our families have to say about us!

“I can't say enough great things about Rockford Trumpet Studio. Logan is an AMAZING teacher! It's clear he truly cares about helping his students improve and takes his time to ensure they get the most out of every lesson. My daughter’s playing abilities have improved SIGNIFICANTLY since working with him. She looks forward to every lesson and has developed many new skills and techniques, which have helped her achieve several goals within (e.g. section leader, 1st chair trumpet, ILMEA, Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra). Highly recommend for anyone that really wants to take their playing to the next level.” - Sherry Alonso
